Spurs-Thunder Game 2 Most-Watched Conference Finals Game 2 of ALL-TIME
Whether you are watching for Wemby or Stephon Castle’s incredible dunks. Or hate watching with a Wingstop platter; the point is you’re watching. Viewership and ratings are through the roof for this thrilling series featuring San Antonio and Oklahoma City. In fact, NBC and Peacock have announced that Spurs-Thunder Game 2 was the most-watched Conference Finals Game 2 of ALL-TIME.
These numbers aren’t too surprising when you look at the kind of attention the Spurs have been generating and garnering since the playoffs commenced. For instance, back on April 24 NBC had proudly heralded that Portland Trail Blazers versus San Antonio Spurs Game 1 peaked at 6.5 million viewers and averaged 5.7 million viewers, making it the most-watched game of the 2026 NBA Playoffs to date and up 35% vs. the comparable playoff game last year. Game 2 viewership of this same series was up a whopping 105% from the game in the same window the previous year.
Furthermore, the audience for San Antonio during this postseason has only continued to grow. Anthony Edwards and Wemby proved to be must watch hoops as well; with the Spurs and the Minnesota Timberwolves generating historic TV viewership. Game 4 averaged a combined 7.9 million viewers across Nielsen and Adobe Analytics, while Game 5 averaged 7.0 million viewers and peaked at 8.2 million viewers. The series achieved three straight nights of 7+ million viewers, a first-ever occurrence for a first- or second-round series in NBA playoff history.

So then, flash forward to Victor facing off again with the reigning champs; a growing rivalry that had basketball fans on the edge of their seats even during the regular season; you just knew the numbers would be there. And yes, the ratings have been historic. NBC Sports says,
Game 2 between Spurs -OKC Thunder averaged a total audience delivery of 10.1 million viewers, making it the most-watched Conference Finals Game 2 ever (either conference). The game peaked at 12.2 million viewers from 10:45-11:00 p.m. ET.
Therefore, we probably all can already guess what this means moving forward. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and Victor Wembanyama are going to be seeing each other every Christmas and late October for the foreseeable future. They are members of two well-built franchises filled to the brim with talent that play each other like it’s the Finals. The new era has arrived.
