Philadelphia Eagles Owner Jeffrey Lurie to be Enshrined in the Eagles Hall of Fame
He purchased the franchise on May 6, 1994, and ushered in a new era for the team. Under his tutelage a tireless work ethic and innovation were introduced creating sustained results. Since his ownership began nearly one-third of the club’s seasons have resulted in NFC Championship game or Super Bowl berths since 2001. Therefore, Philadelphia Eagles owner Jeffrey Lurie is to be enshrined in the Eagles Hall of Fame. The enshrinement will take place on Monday, October 26 when the team hosts the Dallas Cowboys in front of a nationally televised audience.
Former Eagle and legendary quarterback Ron Jaworski and who sits on the selection committee shared his insight on the honor:
“The Eagles Hall of Fame honors those who have made exceptional contributions to the history of this organization and the National Football League,” said Eagles Legend Ron Jaworski. “Jeffrey’s legacy and relentless dedication to this team are the reasons why we – the selection committee – felt it was important to recognize him with the organization’s highest honor. Among Jeffrey’s many qualities, it is his unique ability to lead others that has allowed this team to have sustained success over a long period of time. On behalf of the selection committee, it is my distinct pleasure to welcome Jeffrey Lurie into the Eagles Hall of Fame.”
Leadership is important to have if you want to successfully operate an organism as complex as an NFL team. That leadership was on display as the team has won two Super Bowl Championships (Super Bowl LII and Super Bowl LIX) under his guidance. The only two Super Bowl Championships in team history. However, he is also a man of the community. His family’s $50 million gift helped launch the Lurie Autism Institute. And the $60 million raised by the Eagles Autism Foundation have contributed more than $100 million to the global autism research and care community.

Lurie shared his feelings about receiving this honor in the following statement:
“Being selected to the Eagles Hall of Fame is one of the greatest honors of my life,” said Lurie. “It is truly rewarding to know that I will now join a distinguished group of legends who have all made significant contributions to this organization. From the very moment I became owner, I have been deeply committed to delivering a champion – both on and off the field – that our fans and city can be proud of. This franchise has given so much to me and my family over the past 32 years, and for that, I will be forever grateful. I would like to thank the selection committee for their support and am humbled that they felt I was deserving of this recognition.”
