Spurs-OKC Game 7 Peaked at 17.7 Million Viewers—Most-Watched Conference Finals in 24 Years
Everyone has been talking about this series, which means that A LOT of people watched it unfold. According to NBC/Peacock, Spurs versus OKC Game 7 peaked at 17.7 million viewers. And NBA fans didn’t just watch this thrilling game; they have had their attention fixed on this Conference Finals since it commenced. In fact, the league has also revealed that this has been the most watched Conference Finals series in over two decades.
The official National Basketball Association Communications page announced the broadcasting news regarding the Western Conference Finals as well as the NBA playoffs in general. The page declared,
“The Western Conference Finals between the San Antonio Spurs and Oklahoma City Thunder finished as the most-watched Conference Finals in 24 years with an average of 10.8 million viewers per game on NBC/Peacock.
San Antonio’s victory over Oklahoma City in Game 7 averaged 15.9 million viewers, peaking with 17.7 million viewers.
Game 7 between the San Antonio Spurs and Oklahoma City Thunder has surpassed 2 BILLION views across social media platforms, becoming the most-viewed NBA game EVER on social. The series now owns the TWO MOST-VIEWED NBA games EVER on social, with Game 1 reaching 1.9 billion views.”
Later on the NBA Public Relations once again heralded how, “The NBA Playoffs are the most-watched in 28 years with an average of 5.3 million viewers per game across ABC, ESPN, NBC, Peacock and Prime Video.”

So then, it looks like the NBA’s return to the NBC network has been very positive and successful. NBC Sports commented on the high ratings by stating,
“Across 28 playoff games, NBC Sports’ presentation of the 2026 NBA Playoffs averaged 7.2 million viewers on NBC and Peacock, up 72% versus comparable coverage last season. Nine of the top 10 (and 17 of the top 25) most-watched NBA playoff games this season aired on NBC and Peacock.
Game 7 also powered the 2026 Western Conference Finals to average 10.8 million viewers on NBC and Peacock, the best for a Conference Finals – Eastern or Western – since 2002.
The Spurs’ 111-103 win over the Thunder — sending San Antonio to its first NBA Finals since 2014 — peaked at 22.2 million viewers and capped NBC Sports’ coverage of the 2026 NBA Playoffs, its first postseason presentation in 24 years.”
As one can see, NBA fans are truly enjoying this postseason. Now they get to enjoy the NBA Finals. The Knicks beat the Spurs for the Cup title in December, when they started 23-9 and looked like a contender to play for the more important championship. But San Antonio who just beat the defending champs will not be an easy challenge. Therefore, the 2026 NBA Finals will be quite the show!
