Rams HC Sean McVay Did Not Sound Optimistic About Puka Nacua’s Return for Week 3
Potentially it is looking like another week without Puka Nacua. Devastating to fantasy owners and of course, Los Angeles as they prepare for their matchup against the Denver Broncos. Rams HC Sean McVay did not sound optimistic about Puka Nacua’s (groin) return for Week 3 at Denver.
On Thursday, the Rams HC Sean McVay provided the latest update on WR Puka Nacua’s recovery from his groin and hip soft-tissue injury. With McVay revealing, “He’s not making great progress.”
Just earlier this week, the Rams had officially listed WR Puka Nacua as questionable for Monday night’s game vs. the Giants due to a hip injury. Days later and there does not seem to be much improvement.
ESPN NFL Nation reporter Sarah Bishop covering the Los Angeles Rams reported on the Puka injury situation. She states,
Sean McVay said he’s not sure what WR Puka Nacua’s status will be for this week against Denver.
“I’m hopeful that he’ll play,” McVay said.
The Rams are not practicing today (they’re just having a jog-through) and Puka Nacua will not participate. McVay said he’s not sure whether Nacua will play in Week 3 but that the team is not concerned about it being a long-term injury for the WR.
Sean McVay said Puka Nacua does NOT have a hernia, but the Rams are erring on the side of caution with the injury.
McVay: “Usually time is the best thing that allows that thing to heal. And then once you get to a certain point, then I think you feel pretty good moving forward.”

In additional Rams news, the franchise has placed RB Ronnie Rivers on injured reserve. They’ve replaced his roster spot by signing S Maximus Pulley. He played 26% of the Eagles’ special teams snaps in the season opener. That’s Rivers’ main role. But L.A. does have an opening for a third running back.
Regarding the Rams RB situation, The Athletics’ Nate Atkins mentions, “Sean McVay said that Dean Connors and Jordan Waters are candidates for the promotion to the third RB role that Ronnie Rivers held. The focus of that role will be primarily special teams. Rivers is expected to miss 4-6 weeks.”
