Browns Defensive End Myles Garrett Waived No-Trade Clause Now Headed to Los Angeles Rams

He had said before that he wanted to be traded and then he was staying. Now apparently, he is leaving the shores of Lake Erie for the Pacific Ocean. After multiple years of back and forth the 2025 Defensive Player of the Year is headed for the west coast. Browns defensive end Myles Garrett waived his no-trade clause and is now headed to the Los Angeles Rams. He was drafted by the Browns in 2017 NFL Draft with the first overall pick. Now that relationship has come to a close.

Reporting on the transaction, NFL Insider Adam Schefter provided the details, saying: “Rams receive: Myles Garrett Browns receive: Jared Verse, a 2027 first-round pick, a 2028 2nd and a 2029 3rd.”

This is  is one of the biggest trades in NFL history involving a defensive player. Trying to make up for the loss of Garrett, the Browns are getting two-time Pro Bowl pass rusher Jared Verse and multiple draft picks. After firing their former head coach Kevin Stefanski the Browns are trying to build something from the ashes. But the Rams as usual have grabbed the spotlight in grand style. The last time they did a trade like this was when they acquired quarterback Matthew Stafford. That 2021 season the Rams went on to win the Super Bowl which was played in Los Angeles.

Can they create that magic again with Super Bowl LXI set to be played at SoFi Stadium this February? Stafford with his brand-new contract is still the quarterback. So, it would appear that the Rams have their offense and defense squared away. The Browns have yet to determine who their quarterback will be. But that is no longer a concern for Garrett.

After requesting a trade, he then scored a record-breaking deal with Browns. His agent, Nicole Lynn, had said that Garrett had a change of heart and wanted to chase a championship from Cleveland to Canton. he’ll be chasing that championship in California.

The Browns said they had no interest in trading Garrett. The Rams persisted, putting a package together to satisfy all parties. After making the deal the Browns have said Garrett will always be a Brown. You can read the full statement on the Cleveland Browns website here.

Congratulations to Myles Garrett on joining his new team!
