Russell Wilson is Finalizing a Deal to Become a CBS Sports Analyst
It is not like he is not still being looked at and pursued by various organizations. However, this longtime NFL veteran, for now, is choosing a different path for himself. Russell Wilson is finalizing a deal to become a CBS Sports analyst.
The 10-time Pro Bowler previously confirmed he received an offer to play for the Jets but has now chosen television instead. Wilson will be joining the CBS Sports team for their Sunday pregame show and more. Nevertheless, while so far there has not been an official announcement involving retirement; this move towards being a sports analyst at least signals a pause on his playing career.
However, if this is the end soon; Russell has enjoyed quite the career. Which has included hoisting the coveted Lombardi Trophy. As well as numerous Pro Bowl selections and appearances.
Russell Wilson’s NFL Career:
Super Bowl champion
10x Pro Bowler
46,966 passing yards
353 passing TDs
31 rushing TDs
121-80-1 record
Water Payton Man of the Year
Nonetheless, ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported on Wilson’s latest deal with CBS. He reveals,
“Sources: Ten-time Pro-Bowl quarterback Russell Wilson is finalizing a deal to become a CBS Sports analyst. Wilson won a Super Bowl, the Walter Payton Man of the Year award and now leaves the NFL to become an analyst on the network’s pregame show that includes James Brown, Nate Burleson and Bill Cowher.”

Perhaps a new opportunity over the coming year will sway Wilson into putting a pause on his new career as an analyst, or he returns in 2027 with a year of rest under his belt. Wilson played with the New York Giants last season, starting three games before being replaced by rookie Jaxson Dart and then leapfrogged on the depth chart by Jameis Winston. He appeared in three more games by season’s end, totaling 831 yards and three touchdowns on 119 pass attempts.
However, the other New York franchise believed that Russell just needed a fresh start. But it looks like Wilson shall not accept the Jets offer for the time being. Russell Wilson had taken free agent visits this offseason, but instead joins NFL Today.
