WNBA to Become First Professional Sports League to Host Events at Obama Presidential Center
The Obama Presidential Center officially opened to the public on June 19, 2026. Located on the South Side of Chicago in Jackson Park, the campus features a museum, a branch of the Chicago Public Library, athletic facilities, and public gardens. Now this historic and educational monument will be utilized for some exciting women’s sports activities as well as events. On Wednesday morning it was revealed that the WNBA is set to become the first professional sports league to host events at the new Obama Presidential Center.
The news was confirmed thanks to an official press release from the Association. The release stated,
“(WNBA) announced today that several marquee events during AT&T WNBA All-Star 2026 will take place at the newly opened Obama Presidential Center.
As part of the All-Star festivities, the Obama Presidential Center will serve as a featured venue for various AT&T WNBA All-Star activities, bringing together players, fans and community members for unique experiences celebrating basketball, culture, community impact, and connection throughout the weekend.”

One last interesting fun fact regarding this year’s All Star selections. Los Angeles Sparks forward Nneka Ogwumike, the WNBA’s fourth-leading scorer and rebounder of all time, inches up towards history. The selection is the 11th in Ogwumike’s career, tying her with Diana Taurasi for the second most in league history, behind all-time leader Sue Bird (13). Congrats to Nneka.
Nonetheless, the 2026 AT&T WNBA All-Star Game will be played in Chicago at United Center on Saturday, July 25. Fans can catch the broadcast on ABC (8:30 p.m. ET). The game broadcast will be preceded by a special edition of WNBA Countdown (ABC, 8 p.m. ET). And it will be followed by WNBA Postgame (ABC, 10:30 p.m. ET).
