“BREAKING: Golden State’s Stephen Curry has agreed on a two-year, $116 million contract extension with the franchise, with a player option in 2028-29, sources tell ESPN.
On the eve of his 18th season, Curry commits on a new extension honoring his desire to finish his NBA career with the Warriors. He also took $20 million less than his maximum salary, per Bobby Marks, accepting a deal that now gives the Warriors significant cap space next summer.
Golden State presented Curry with a slew of options — max deals, discounted salaries for team-building upside, or waiting into the season or next offseason. But both sides land on a critical extension to bring clarity on the season and lock in Curry for year 19 and potentially 20.”
Steph Curry receives $58M average annual value to extend with the Warriors for two more years after this season. NBA analyst, Jake Weinbach adds to Charania’s update mentioning, “The Warriors are projected to have significant cap space next summer and could create enough room for a max salary slot after signing Steph Curry to a two-year, $116M extension. Notable free agents next year could include Nikola Jokic, Karl-Anthony Towns, Anthony Davis, and Kevin Durant.”
