The 2026 NBA Draft is less than 24 hours away but that is not stopping teams from making moves one bit. Milwaukee and Minnesota have moved players as Sunday and Monday evening drifted into the later hours. Sources confirm that the Bucks have traded Giannis Antetokounmpo to the Miami Heat as the Wolves have made a trade sending Julius Randle to the Brooklyn Nets.

It’s been a highly discussed subject for quite some time. However, the deed is FINALLY all said and done. Giannis is at long last traded and heading to another organization. A franchise that hopes to win its next title after a decade-plus drought.

The Miami Heat won their last NBA Championship on June 20, 2013. After defeating the San Antonio Spurs in a thrilling seven-game series. This particular victory marked their second consecutive title and the third in franchise history. Nonetheless, adding two-time NBA MVP, NBA Cup MVP and 2021 Finals MVP Giannis Antetokounmpo to the roster mix; Pat Riley and company hope to help glory rain on South Beach yet again.

ESPN’s Shams Charania broke down this blockbuster trade. Explaining interested parties and what and who are in this haul for the Bucks. Charania reports,

“BLOCKBUSTER: The Milwaukee Bucks are trading franchise icon Giannis Antetokounmpo and Bobby Portis to the Miami Heat for Tyler Herro, Kel’el Ware, Jaime Jaquez Jr., Kasparas Jakucionis, 3 first-round picks (including No. 13), 1 pick swap and 1 second-rounder, sources tell ESPN.

The Heat are sending to Milwaukee unprotected first-rounders in 2031 and 2033 along with No. 13, a pick swap in 2030 and a 2033 second-rounder, according to sources.

The trade does not include any additional teams — it is a one-to-one move, sources said — but both the Heat and Bucks will execute the deal on July 6, which leaves the framework open to see if there are opportunities to expand.

Heat president Pat Riley now makes his long-anticipated new landmark acquisition, with Antetokounmpo joining elite Miami pickups such as LeBron James, Shaquille O’Neal, Chris Bosh, Alonzo Mourning and Jimmy Butler over the past 30-plus years. Riley will pair the two-time NBA MVP and 2021 Finals MVP with Bam Adebayo to lead contention in the Eastern Conference.

After informing teams that they were open for business at the NBA draft combine in May, Bucks general manager Jon Horst landed a haul with the Heat’s offer that brings high-level starting/rotation players and young talent, as well as significant draft capital.”

Charania also confirms that the Boston Celtics aggressively pursued Giannis. Offering Milwaukee a package featuring 2024 Finals MVP Jaylen Brown and two first-round picks. The Bucks seriously negotiated with two finalists in recent weeks: Miami and Boston, which were both on Antetokounmpo’s list of preferred destinations. In the end, Miami won out.

Nevertheless, Giannis’ blockbuster trade is not the only news making waves before we can even found this year’s number one pick. The Timberwolves have sent Julius Randle and the No. 28 pick in the NBA Draft to the Brooklyn Nets. This move is a part of a three-team trade that sends Nic Claxton to the Chicago Bulls. The Timberwolves will acquire Brooklyn’s No. 33 pick for Randle and No. 28.

Charania adds, “Timberwolves free up significant salary with the remaining two years of Randle’s deal. Giving them more flexibility to retain Ayo Dosunmu and use exceptions. Nets acquire a three-time All-Star and two-time All-NBA forward in Randle into their cap space — plus a first-rounder. Chicago uses part of its space on a talented athletic center; a position of need, with $30 million in room left.” We’ll see how all the picks are utilized Tuesday night.
