Angel Reese Impressive in Getting a Victory with Atlanta Dream in her Return to Chicago

She spent two years in the Windy City and made some fans there playing for the Sky. However, she was traded earlier in 2026 and headed down south. By all accounts she’s happy with her new team and it showed last night. Angel Reese was impressive in getting a victory with the Atlanta Dream in her return to Chicago. She put up 17 points and had 17 rebounds for the second consecutive game. And last night’s victory was the second consecutive win for the Dream.

However, Reese is just taking it all in stride. She had this to say about being back in Chicago:

“It was just another basketball game,” Reese said. “I have a lot of love for Chicago, because I did have a great time here. The fans have still embraced me, and so many people still have Chicago jerseys of mine, and some Atlanta jerseys, and they show a lot of support. So, I do appreciate the city too.”

In addition, Reese had four assists and two steals in 35 minutes. This was her fifth straight double-double this season and her eighth in 11 games. She also became the first player in Dream history to record 17 or more rebounds in back-to-back games. According to ESPN Insights: Angel Reese’s 57th double double is the most through 75 games in WNBA history Over the last 40 seasons across the NBA and WNBA, only Shaquille O’Neal had more through 75 games.”

Getting her 57th double double puts her into the conversation with other greats such as Blake Griffin, Tim Duncan and Tina Charles. But Reese wasn’t fazed by that fact, recognizing that she had gotten plenty of double doubles with the Sky but not the wins. So, she’s happy to be with the Dream, getting double doubles but most of all getting wins. Atlanta sits at 8-3 with the third-best winning percentage in the league while sitting atop the Eastern Conference standings.

With the Commissioner’s Cup going on the Dream is doing well at 3-1. Thus far they have raised $10,000 for its charitable partner, The King Center. And in other good news Rhyne Howard made WNBA history. She eclipsed 2,500 career points to become the youngest player in WNBA history to record 2,500 points, 500 rebounds, 500 assists, 200 steals and 100 blocks.

It appears that adding Reese to the team has improved the fortunes of both the team and Reese herself. Next the Dream will face Breanna Stewart and the New York Liberty at Gateway Center Arena tomorrow June 11. Currently the Liberty are at 8-4 so it should be a good game.
