Aces A’ja Wilson Becomes Fastest Player to 6K Points in WNBA History
Several championships under her belt. Has scored the most points during a WNBA season and now this basketball superstar is adding yet another accolade to her legacy. Las Vegas Aces A’ja Wilson becomes the fastest player to reach 6K points in WNBA history.
On Monday evening, Wilson helped lead the Aces to an impressive win over the Seattle Storm. Defeating their visiting opponents, 101-91. A’ja posted 34 points, 12 rebounds, three blocks and nine assists in 36 minutes.
But her dominant offensive effort led to yet another WNBA record. In the Aces home win, Wilson reached the milestone in less than 280 games, passing Diana Taurasi (291) for the fastest mark in league history. She became the 19th player in WNBA history to score 6,000 career points. After the victory over Seattle, the Las Vegas Aces announced,

AJA WILSON is the FASTEST player of all-time to reach 6K points.
In 278 games, A’ja Wilson becomes the fastest player of all-time to reach 6’000 career points!”
Wilson told the media that what she accomplishes is only due to great work ethic, dedication and hard work. On becoming the fastest and youngest player to ever reach 6,000 points Wilson states,
“You gotta do things on days that you might not be feeling great… you gotta show up everyday. To pass that list of greats, I’m blessed, I’m honored, but I still got a lot more work to do.”

Yes, Wilson is really in a league of her own. And already she is showing why she is a strong candidate to win another MVP this season. Furthermore, in other A’ja news, TIME magazine revealed that Wilson has been named to the TIME 100 Sports list recognizing 100 of the most influential figures in sports. A’ja’s head coach Becky Hammon also finds herself on this illustrious list.
Additionally, 6K points is not Wilson’s only achievement this week. She also flexed her defensive muscle and abilities on the court. A’ja Wilson has now passed Tangela Smith (557) for seventh place on the WNBA’s all-time blocks list. A few notable names that Wilson still must pass include: Candace Parker, Britney Griner and Lisa Leslie. Margo Dydek still holds the top spot with 877 blocks.
