Two-Time Defending Champion Aryna Sabalenka Reaches FOURTH Consecutive US Open Final
She’s been a dominant figure in women’s tennis and at the 2026 U.S. Open she once again proved why. Two-time defending champion Aryna Sabalenka is into her FOURTH consecutive US Open final! Aryna Sabalenka defeats Jessica Pegula 7-5, 6-2 and will once again compete in the US Open championship match on Saturday.
Getting to the Final has become an annual tradition for Sabalenka. Her success is not a fluke by any means. Aryna is just “money” when she takes the first set; which she did during Thursday’s match against Jessica. In fact, Sabalenka at the U.S. Open is now 32-3 when winning the first set.
Moreover, despite losing the world number one ranking, Aryna remained focused and resilient. Two time champ Aryna Sabalenka defeats Jessica Pegula for the 3rd consecutive year at the US Open to reach a 4th consecutive final in NYC. A feat many women of the sport have not achieved.
According to statistics platform OptaAce, Aryna Sabalenka is the first female or male player in the Open Era to reach 8+ consecutive GS finals on hard court. Surpassing the seven reached by Steffi Graf (US 1987-90), Martina Hingis (AO 1997-00) and Novak Djokovic (US 2010-13). Just WOW.
Additionally, since 1988, Aryna Sabalenka has become the fifth player to reach 5+ Grand Slam finals as World No. 1. She falls just after Steffi Graf (20), Serena Williams (14), Monica Seles and Martina Hingis (nine each). Quite the impressive list to be a member of and she still has time to add to this achievement.

Aryna Sabalenka spoke to the media and crowd after beating Pegula to reach U.S. Open final. She discussed some thoughts on her performance on the court. She said,
“No complaints. I’m super happy I was able to pull out such tennis. The last match I played against Jessica it was almost impossible for me to get the win. I’m super happy I was able to play such tennis in front of you all. Thank you for the atmosphere. You guys are the best. Your respect to me is priceless. I know you wanted her to win, it’s obvious. But thank you for being so respectful to me. Love you guys.”
Next stop for Aryna Sabalenka: Saturday’s women’s singles final. The two-time defending US Open champ will face the winner of Coco Gauff-Elena Rybakina.
