San Francisco 49ers DEMOLISHED the Rams in Australia Game
A reigning MVP faced off against a former “Mr. Irrelevant” who has impressively surpassed all expectations and even appeared at a recent Super Bowl. The latter’s organization would get the better of LA. On Thursday evening, the San Francisco 49ers DEMOLISHED the Rams in NFL Australia game.
The 49ers looked fresh and ready to go from the start. San Francisco kept their scoring consistent and steady all game. Scoring in all four quarters. Three points in the first quarter, seven points in the second and third quarters; then 10 in the fourth.
On the other side, Los Angeles never got into rhythm. Some have wondered if all of the travel to Melbourne had an impact on the Rams’ performance. To combat any negative effects of this NFL international matchup, San Francisco arrived for the Australia game a full week in advance. The Rams? Just 28 hours before kickoff.
Jet lag or not, both teams prepared in the best way they saw fit. And the 9ers dominated on both sides of the ball. Scoring 27 points and holding the Rams to just 7.
Australian football fans showed out as well. They packed the Melbourne Cricket Ground and are now cemented in history. Melbourne’s September 10th game is officially the 7th largest regular season attendance in NFL history. With 100,021 cheering attendees.
San Francisco 49ers DEMOLISHED the Rams in Australia Game
NFL’s opening matchup featuring the 49ers and Rams aired on streaming platform, Netflix. The National Football League and Netflix have a successful history together. For instance, back in 2024 Christmas Day ratings were very favorable. In fact, Netflix NFL Christmas Gameday (2024) was a record-breaking day, reaching 65 million US viewers according to Nielsen. With an average of more than 24 million people watching each game, Chiefs-Steelers and Ravens-Texans became the top two most streamed NFL games in US history. Viewership peaked with the “Beyonce Bowl”, with over 27 million viewers.
Furthermore, the league also reported great numbers the following season. According to the NFL, over 200 countries and territories tuned in for kickoff of NFL Christmas Gameday Live on Netflix for the second year in a row. Therefore, with numbers like the above, it is easy to see why the league continues to team up with Netflix; even if not all football fans approve or appreciate the move.
