His greatness and legacy only continues to grow. Now Nike is locking in the San Antonio Defensive Player of the Year long-term. On Friday the swoosh brand announced that Victor Wembanyama has signed a new long-term contract extension with Nike that includes his own signature shoe line.
Wembanyama first signed with Nike in 2022 while playing professionally in France before entering the NBA. Victor caught the attention of many while playing for the Metropolitans 92 basketball club. Back when Wemby signed in 2022 before the 2023 NBA Draft; the deal was expected to end in October 2026. However, Nike had zero plans of letting the now Spurs Big Man get away. They made sure to get Wemby to put ink to paper.
Nevertheless, now the 22-year-old phenom has extended his contract. The shoe company already sold Wembanyama-inspired shoes, such as the G.T. Cut 4 “Victor Wembanyama” models that he used this past season, but this new deal could amplify the brand’s relationship with Wembanyama. Nike has already showcased a personalized alien logo that capitalizes on Wembanyama’s nickname, though the brand hinted on its Instagram page that the personalization around its Wembanyama line could be expanding.
ESPN’s Shams Charania reported on Wemby’s extension with Nike mentioning,
“San Antonio’s Victor Wembanyama has signed a new long-term contract extension with Nike — including a new signature shoe line, per sources. After 3 NBA seasons, Wembanyama has run to the Finals, MVP finalist season, Defensive Player of the Year, max deal and a signature shoe.”

Nike released a brief statement on re-signing Wemby. Mentioning why they did so and why they are thrilled to continue their relationship with Victor. Nike says,
“We are proud to continue supporting Victor Wembanyama’s journey with Nike. As one of the most unique and influential athletes in the world, Victor is a generational talent who continues to inspire the games next generation. We are excited about all that we’ve built together and look forward to more wins ahead.”
Nike is going all-in on Wemby as one of their next long-term faces for NBA branding.
