It was slightly the worst kept gaming secret this year. However, it is still exciting that finally we know who will be joining San Antonio’s Big Man on the cover 2K. On Wednesday morning it was revealed that Victor Wembanyama and Caitlin Clark plus Derrick Rose are the NBA 2K27 cover stars.
Yes, the news is confirmed at long last. Around this year’s NBA Finals it was actually leaked that Wemby would be NBA 2K’s cover star. At that time a social media post revealed a snippet of a press release stating,
“Today, 2K revealed that the two-time All-Star San Antonio Spurs Center Victor Wembanyama, will be this year’s cover athlete for the NBA® 2K27 Standard Edition. More information along with preorder information will be available in July.
NBA 2K27 will be available on September 4 on PlayStation®5 (PS5®), Xbox Series X|S, PC via Steam, and Nintendo Switch 2. More information will follow about early access starting one week prior on Friday, August 28, 2026.”
After the leak many posts including the above snippet disappeared online. However, by that point the cat was already out of the bag. Nevertheless, flash forward one month and we now know that Bulls legend Derrick Rose and Indiana Fever superstar Caitlin Clark have been tapped as well.
