After Nine NFL Seasons Justin Simmons of Denver Broncos Fame Announced His Retirement
His NFL career lasted nine years and eight of them were spent in the Mile High city. He was drafted by the Broncos in the third round of the 2016 NFL Draft. Simmons upheld the Orange Crush attack that the football team had started in the 1970’s becoming a great safety in the league. His last year in the league was in 2024 which he spent with the Atlanta Falcons. So, after nine NFL seasons Justin Simmons of Denver Broncos fame has announced his retirement.
He made many contributions on the field while with the Broncos. Host of NFL Spotlight, Ari Merov, described Simmons as, “4x All-Pro safety Justin Simmons started 124 career games, recorded 32 interceptions, and is one of the great people in the sport of football.”
And NFL Insider Justin Schultz wrote: “Justin Simmons was the #Broncos’ Walter Payton Man of the Year nominee multiple times and played at least 98% of the team’s defensive snaps in seven straight seasons to end his career.”
Simmons was a team captain and Pro Bowl player. But now he’s looking forward to being a member of the crowd and cheering on his team. For he will always be a Denver Bronco. He told DenverBroncos.com:
“I can’t wait to go to the home opener and be a fan, I don’t want to go sit in a suite. I want to go sit as close as I can, maybe in the lower bowl, and cheer on the team. I’ve never gotten to do that, and I’ve never gotten to experience those types of things. I would just love to be remembered as not just a Bronco, but just a man that gave his all to the team, the city”

Simmons became a terror and a menace on the field as a rookie. He had the opportunity to sack quarterback great, Tom Brady and in New Orleans to block an extra point that Will Parks ran back for a game-winning score. He added to his tremendous start by snatching his first interception on Christmas Day. It would become the first of 30 that he would snag throughout his career.
But now he’s moving on and looking forward to being a fan in the stands. But as he said, “Being a Denver Bronco was more than just a team,” Simmons said. “It was my heart, my home and my story. I’ll always be a Denver Bronco.”
Congratulations Justin Simmons on a spectacular career, we hope you enjoy your retirement as much as your football career!
