On Wednesday morning, the Toronto Tempo announced that guard Marina Mabrey will miss the remainder of the 2026 WNBA season with a right adductor injury. Marina is expected to make a full recovery and will not need surgery.
Therefore, essentially Toronto is shutting down Marina Mabrey. She will now miss her team’s final four games. The Tempo hopes this move will preserve Marina’s talents for the future.

During her thrilling All-Star season in 2026, she averaged: 20.8 PTS | 3.7 AST | 3.3 REB.
The Tempo acknowledged Marina’s highlight reel season during their announcement detailing her injury. Regarding Mabrey’s career-high year, the organization states,
“Through the 32 games she has played this season, Mabrey averaged a career-high 20.8 points, 3.3 rebounds, 3.7 assists and 0.9 steals, emerging as one of the WNBA’s most improved players and premier scorers in her first season with the Tempo.
She increased her scoring average by 44 per cent from 2025 while making significant gains in both field-goal and three-point efficiency. Mabrey ranks sixth in the league in points per game and tied for first in three pointers made per game (3.3), with six 30-point performances and a career-high 53-point game that tied the WNBA single-game scoring record.”

Mabrey equaled the WNBA record previously set by Liz Cambage (Dallas Wings) on July 17, 2018, and matched by A’ja Wilson (Las Vegas Aces) on August 22, 2023.
