It’s been a wild weekend. Came down to two ball clubs duking it out in order to earn their way to October baseball. All culminating into this year’s Major League Baseball playoff picture fully coming together. In the end on Sunday, the Philadelphia Phillies would clinch the final wild card spot as the 2026 MLB postseason field is officially set.
Philadelphia fans, the time has finally come to RING THE BELL. For the 5th straight season the Phillies are heading to the Postseason. Avoiding a historic collapse while clinching the final wild card spot in the National League.
Yes, it wasn’t the most beautiful ending to a season. The legs were completely snatched from under Philadelphia. The Phillies crawled into the MLB Playoffs as the 3rd Wild Card in National League. Garnering a losing record in September, also losing 4 of 6 at home final week, and then at long last getting in on final day of season. They took it all the way to game 162.
But it’s not how you get in, it’s about what you do once you get there. The regular season will now be erased. But the Phillies can now breathe a sigh of relief as they clinch and punch their ticket to the next battle. By clinching the final wild card Philadelphia matches the longest playoff streak in team history. 5 years. Furthermore, now they will face the Braves for the third time in those 5 years.

So then, who will play who starting this week? Here are the matchups:
American League:
White Sox against Houston Astros (winner will play the Cleveland Guardians in the upcoming ALDS)
Boston Red Sox versus New York Yankees (winner to play the Tampa Bay Rays in the ALDS)
National League:
Philadelphia against Atlanta Braves (the winner will face off with the Los Angeles Dodgers in NLDS)
San Diego Padres versus Chicago Cubs (the will shall play against the Milwaukee Brewers in the NLDS)
Wild Card Series are up first. The Games Begin This Tuesday, Sept. 29 on NBC, Peacock, and NBCSN.
