Philadelphia 76ers and Flyers Revealed New Home Arena Coming in 2030
Sports fans are about to enter the next era at Broad and Pattison. In just four years time a new home will be constructed and opened for basketball and hockey viewing pleasure. On Tuesday the Philadelphia 76ers and Flyers revealed their new home arena coming in 2030.
The 76ers and Flyers have unveiled renderings of their new arena on the former Spectrum site in South Philadelphia. Which both teams and organizations are calling the largest fully privately funded project in city history. For the Flyers, the move brings the franchise back to the grounds where it began play in 1967. And also won its only two Stanley Cups.
Furthermore, this new arena will not only be enjoyed by NBA and NHL fans. But also women’s basketball enthusiasts. The arena is now targeted to open before the WNBA season in 2030. The very year when Philadelphia’s expansion team will begin play.
Co-Founder of Harris Blitzer Sports & Entertainment and Managing Partner of the Philadelphia 76ers, Josh Harris released a statement regarding the new arena. Harris says,
“Philly fans deserve the best arena in the world, and we are excited to partner with Comcast to deliver just that. This privately funded arena will be the home to moments and memories that define this city for generations. We have an incredible opportunity ahead of us and look forward to partnering with Mayor Parker and Council President Kenyatta Johnson to transform a site rich with history. While creating thousands of jobs, driving lasting economic impact and delivering an arena that honors the deep sports and entertainment culture of the city. I’m grateful to my partners David Blitzer, David Adelman, Brian Roberts and Dan Hilferty for helping make this vision a reality.”

The Spectrum-inspired design includes more than a half-acre of outdoor gathering space, with fan plazas, food and beverage options and a large entrance staircase inspired by the steps at the Philadelphia Museum of Art.
Regarding the first look at the Flyers/WNBA expansion team and 76ers’ new home; NBA commissioner Adam Silver mentions, “I’m thrilled to see the first renderings of what promises to be an extraordinary home for NBA and WNBA basketball as well as many other world-class events. Beyond the incredible experience the new arena will bring to fans, I commend HBSE and Comcast for such a significant economic investment in Philadelphia.”
