NBA 2K has been busy adding new features and making improvements. Such as the new inclusion of female player builds, an app and MyCareerEras. Nevertheless, they also will be adding a former NBA player back into the fold. Delonte West shares via social media that he has been added back to the “NBA 2K27” video game.
West has been through quite a bit over the years. And continues to work to fully turn things around. Delonte has faced a severe public struggle with mental health, substance abuse, and homelessness following his eight-year NBA career. However, he is currently focused on recovery and recently celebrated major sobriety milestones.
In 2004, the Boston Celtics picked West in the first round of the NBA Draft (with the 24th overall pick). He bounced around a bit in the league after that, with stints on the Seattle SuperSonics, Cleveland Cavaliers, and the Dallas Mavericks. Over his NBA career, West averaged 9.7 points, 2.9 rebounds and 3.6 assists per game. Playing alongside some of the greatest players of all time, including LeBron James and Dirk Nowitzki. His final NBA season was 2011-12 with the Mavericks.
Flash forward to the present and Delonte is still battling and trying to ultimately succeed. Back in March of 2026 the former NBA guard shared a hopeful new milestone: 100 days of sobriety.

Now West is sharing more news with the NBA community. 2K is adding Delonte West’s player likeness in NBA 2K27. In a post on Instagram, Delonte shared an email which stated:
“Delonte,
Hope all is well with you! I see you back hooping again a little bit. So glad to see you back at it.
I got great news! NBA 2K officially added you to NBA 2K27. You are now back in the video game!!!
I’ll be reaching out again in January 2027 to get you a direct Deposit form and W9 to complete.
You will start receiving royalties in March 2027.

Delonte West says NBA 2K reached out to him personally. The iconic sports video game will be adding him to their newest edition for the first time since NBA 2K14.
