Celtics Jayson Tatum and Paul George on Playing Together and Developing Chemistry
Boston acquired George during the offseason thanks to a blockbuster trade with Philadelphia. Now their new shiny roster piece gets to be showcased on the court with their current superstar. After defeating the 76ers in a preseason match 106-144, the Celtics Jayson Tatum and Paul George discuss what’s it like playing together and developing their rhythm as well as chemistry.
George and Jayson Tatum looked effortlessly smooth together. Both impressed early and scored in the double digits. Multiple shots just all net. If this is how this duo can perform all season; Boston is definitely going to make some noise.
After getting a victory over Philadelphia by almost 40 points; Jayson Tatum talked to the media about how he felt playing with PG. Tatum said,
“It’s kind of surreal… I was in high school modeling my game after him… I had to be the first player in college to wear PG1s.
It was great. Somebody that I’ve obviously admired for a very, very long time. To see some of the special things that he brings to a team, I’m looking forward to it.”

Paul George also weighed in on his first experience as a Boston Celtic. Plus, revealed some goals that he has for the future. George says,
“It was amazing. It’s everything you feel as an opponent with that energy, that excitement, that passion. To then be on the good side of things, it’s electric… It is like a badge of honor to wear that green.
I know that I can be a 20 point scorer… I know that I can guard and lock up the best player… Jayson Tatum is the guy. I’m here to help him be in that MVP conversation.
My job is to just make the game as easy as possible for JT. Today was literally our first time being on the same side. All of camp, we’ve been competing against each other. So today was our first opportunity to kind of learn each other and get a feel for one another. But again, my job is try to make this as easy as possible for him. He’s going to be special.”
Paul George did a little bit of everything in his Celtics preseason debut. Helping his new team get the win at home. His stats:
13 PTS
5 REB
4 AST
5 STL
Nice. Even though he’s enjoying being with Boston so far, George still showed love to Philly and his former teammates. Paul finished up by stating, “I love those guys… Jo, Tyrese, VJ, JE. I think these long-lasting relationships that you build along the way of this journey here. VJ calls me almost every other week.”
