Brewers One Win Away From World Series After Crushing Dodgers in NLCS Game 3
The Milwaukee Brewers are one win away from the World Series after crushing the Los Angeles Dodgers in the 2026 NLCS Game 3 matchup. This also means that the Brewers ball club is one victory away from appearing in its first World Series since 1982. So then, history is on the line.
Nonetheless, Milwaukee certainly quieted Dodger Stadium on Wednesday night. However, Game 3 had everything a baseball fan could want. Multiple lead changes. Great pitching. Base stealing. And several home runs that paved the way for victory.
But Milwaukee seemed in control from the start. With Blake Snell on the mound, the Dodgers gave up a home run on the very first pitch of the game. Jackson Chourio gave the Brewers an early 1-0 lead. One year to the day after leading off Game 2 of the 2025 NLCS with a first-pitch homer, Jackson Chourio did it AGAIN in NLCS Game 3!
Furthermore, Davis Schneider and Jackson Chourio are the only hitters since 2008 to homer on the first pitch of a postseason game. Both home runs were off of Blake Snell. Additionally, Chourio hitting early is becoming a tradition. Youngest players in postseason history with a leadoff HR:
1) Jackson Chourio in 2024
2) Jackson Chourio in 2025
3) Jackson Chourio in 2026
Jackson Chourio’s six postseason home runs before turning 23 are the most in MLB history. Jackson is definitely a playoffs pitcher’s worst nightmare. And Los Angeles could not keep him or other Brewers contained.
But LA did have its chances. For instance, in the bottom of the sixth inning the Dodgers would show signs of life by loading up the bases. Catcher Will Smith then blasts a go ahead hit to deep centerfield. Bringing Los Angeles into the lead, 1-2.
But the Brewers stormed right on back into the lead. Not only taking the lead but continuing to add on as the game progressed. Handing Los Angeles another “L.”
Brewers One Win Away From World Series After Crushing Dodgers in NLCS Game 3
Milwaukee now takes a 3-0 lead in the NLCS and can sweep the Dodgers Thursday. The Brewers got the win thanks to Jake Bauers hitting a go-ahead homer on the 11th pitch of an epic at-bat. While Garrett Mitchell followed with another homer and Robert Gasser threw five scoreless for a monster win.
Speaking of Gasser, the lights were not too bright. According to OptaSTATS, Robert Gasser of the Brewers is the first rookie in MLB history with a scoreless start in the postseason against the defending champs. What a performance.
And what a showing from Milwaukee in general during this series! They have been fun to watch and are on a mission of destiny. Nevertheless, Wednesday evening the Brewers would win 6-2. After 44 years, Milwaukee is one win away from a trip back to the World Series. What a year for the Brew Crew!
