Atlanta Falcons and Tight End Kyle Pitts Agreed to New Multi-Year Extension

Atlanta took care of one of their offensive weapons earlier this month. They signed wide receiver Drake London to a new four-year contract extension. Now they have turned their attention to the offensive side of the ball again. The Atlanta Falcons and tight end Kyle Pitss have agreed to a new multi-year extension. Pitts, 25, was the No. 8 overall pick by the Falcons in the 2021 NFL draft. It was good to be a part of the 2021 class. As Ari Merov pointed out: “Of the top 15 picks in the 2021 NFL Draft, 12 have cashed in on lucrative second contracts worth a combined $1.33 BILLION.”

Providing some information on the extension, NFL Insider Adam Schefter posted the following:

“ESPN sources: TE Kyle Pitts and the Atlanta Falcons reached agreement today on a three-year, $54 million contract that includes $36 million fully guaranteed. It is the largest three-year contract for a tight end in NFL history. David Mulugheta of Athletes First and Andre Odom confirmed the deal.”

His new contract ranks him as the third highest-paid tight end per year in the league. First is George Kittle at $19.1 million and Trey McBride second at $19 million. Initially, the Falcons had placed a franchise tag of $15.045 million on Pitts. Now he will play under his new deal for the 2026 season instead.

Regarding the tag, Pitts had said, “They trusted that they see something in (me), and that’s pretty cool to see,” Pitts said of the franchise tag during OTAs. “It’s a new year. It’s already signed, and it’s going to be a good year.” Pitts will be entering his first year working with new head coach Kevin Stefanski. He has a good reputation for working with tight ends. Stefanski got excellent production from tight end David Njoku when they were together at the Browns.

Stefanski and his staff couldn’t be more pleased with Pitts’ buy-in with their program and the effort he’s shown both on and off the field. Commenting on his contributions, Stefanski said:

“Kyle’s, again, a guy that is here working like crazy. Takes coaching,” Stefanski said during OTAs. “The physical skill set is obvious when Kyle’s on the field, with how big he is and how he moves. But I’ve been impressed with what we’re asking him to do, a couple new things for him. As your players continue on in their career, you want to find out more, what else is in there and what else can we do, and what can we help you with? So I think Kyle’s been outstanding in that regard of trying to continue to get better in so many areas.”

Congratulations to Kyle Pitts on getting his new extension!
