Atlanta Falcons and Wide Receiver Drake London Have Reached a New Agreement
Every team needs at least one top tier wide receiver, but two or more are even better. So, the team took steps to ensure that they have at least one talented ball catcher. The Atlanta Falcons and wide receiver Drake London have reached a new agreement. According to NFL Insiders Ian Rapoport and Adam Schefter, London and the Falcons have agreed to a four-year, $141 million contract extension. It includes $100 million guaranteed and can be worth up to $150 million.
Under this new deal, London now rakes third among the highest paid wide receivers in the NFL. His annual salary will be $33.25 million placing him above the Minnesota Vikings’ wide receiver Justin Jefferson. London was taken with the No. 8 overall pick of the 2022 NFL Draft by the Falcons and they have no regrets. He has been a standout wide receiver for them since he arrived.
However, the quarterback situation still remains in question. With starter Michael Penix Jr. recovering from a partially torn ACL that leaves veteran Tua Tagovailoa to step in. Tua was released by the Miami Dolphins after having signed a massive contract. So, it’s likely that he is preparing to be the starter for Week 1 if Penix is not ready to do so. Could Tua win the starting quarterback job from Michael Penix? And will it matter to Drake who is throwing him the ball?
London has been a reliable and durable playmaker for the Falcons. He had only missed playing in one game until last season. In 2025 he missed five games during Week 8 with a hip injury. Then again in Weeks 12-15 due to a posterior cruciate ligament (PCL) injury suffered in Week 11 against the Carolina Panthers.

But he appears to be healthy and ready to go for the 2026 season. He’s looking to build on his stats which somehow haven’t warranted him a Pro Bowl nod. In 2024 had career bests of 100 receptions, 1,271 yards and nine touchdowns. On average he has 77.3 receptions for 990.3 yards and 5.5 touchdowns per year. Prior to his 2025 injuries, he led the Falcons in receptions and receiving yards in his first three seasons.
With former Falcon’s quarterback Matt Ryan as the new team president, it seems likely that he will ensure that London has the best guy throwing him the ball. We’ll find out who that is when the 2026 season gets under way. Until that time, we wish a hearty congratulations to Drake London on his new contract extension!
