Warriors Mike Dunleavy Says Kristaps Porzingis is Out Indefinitely With Health Issue
A team trip was about to be underway. But a key member of the Golden State roster would unfortunately be missing. At the Warriors media day, general manager Mike Dunleavy said that Kristaps Porzingis is “out indefinitely,” with a health issue that they were informed about yesterday.
The news regarding Porzingis was sudden and unexpected. After contracting a virus late last February, Celtics doctors diagnosed Porzingis with postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome (POTS), an autonomic condition that can dramatically increase heart rate and cause dizziness and fatigue. Porzingis has been pretty private about his struggle, but had felt he was fully recovered for the 2026-2027 season.
Furthermore, the thought recently was that Kristaps was good to go to play a full season. However, now his status has changed. Porzingis will now miss the start of training camp; the Golden State Warriors do not have a timeline for his return and Kristaps will not travel to Hawaii.
Anthony Slater who covers the Warriors for ESPN reported on this latest development regarding Porzingis. Slater stated,
Mike Dunleavy said Kristaps Porzingis was on the court last week and fully cleared, but Dunleavy was informed that Porzingis was dealing with a health issue yesterday. Porzingis won’t make the trip to Hawaii. Out indefinitely.
Kristaps Porzingis is out indefinitely to open training camp with a health issue, per Warriors. Another immediate blow to their depth.
Dunleavy on Porzingis: “I’m not marking him down as being out to start the season or anything like that. He’s just not available this week.”

Steve Kerr said Mike Dunleavy called him last night on Kristaps Porzingis being out “indefinitely.” Kerr mentions, “We don’t really know what it means. We’re going to get going with camp, and fully expect him to be with us at some point. There’s not a whole lot to report at this time.”
In other Warriors news, Stephen Curry recently agreed on a two-year, $116 million contract extension with the franchise. It includes a player option in 2028-29. Additionally, Jimmy Butler and Moses Moody have progressed to “very light on-court activities,” to open training camp. Both wings will remain in that stage (individual work/rehab) for a chunk of time to open the season.
