Valkyries Announced WNBA All-Star Heading to San Francisco Bay Area in 2027
Their women’s basketball team just clinched a 2026 playoff spot less than 24 hours ago. Now Bay Area basketball fans can look forward to more exciting, great hoops in the future coming to their sports city. On Tuesday morning, the Golden State Valkyries announced that the WNBA All-Star Game is heading to the San Francisco Bay Area in 2027.
Yes, two awesome announcements were made in less than a day via social media. First about making the postseason the Valkyries franchise stated,
“Built in Year One. Back in Year Two.
After becoming the first expansion team in WNBA history to clinch a playoff berth last season, the Valkyries are headed back to the postseason in Year 2.”
Then, around 12 hours later more news drops about San Francisco and the Women’s National Basketball Association. Next year’s All-Star finally has an official location. The league announced, “We’re on the way to the Golden State. The 2027 AT&T WNBA All-Star Game is headed to the San Francisco Bay Area July 30-31.”
And about a half hour later, Golden State also confirms the news about 2027. The successful organization mentioned to their fans, “Hey now, we’re hosting All-Star. It’s official: WNBA All-Star 2027 is coming to the Bay. See you there.”
The Valkyries and the Bay is definitely a good choice to host this fan favorite event. This is a team that has been dominating and very fun to watch matchup after matchup. Golden State has been on a roll during this season. They have won 18 of their last 22 games. And the organization’s fanbase continues to grow rapidly. The Valkyries popularity has led to the team being valued at more than one billion dollars.

Nevertheless, Daniel Lurie, 46th Mayor of the City and County of San Francisco; also released a statement regarding the WNBA’s decision to bring the All-Star game to San Fran. Lurie triumphantly declared,
“San Francisco is hosting the 2027 WNBA All-Star Game! In the last two years, the Golden State Valkyries have brought out the best in our city. When the stars of the WNBA arrive in 2027, our unmatched passion for women’s sports will be on full display.
After hosting the Super Bowl, FIFA World Cup, and NBA All-Star Weekend, we are adding the WNBA All-Star Game to a growing list of major events coming to San Francisco—including Vogue World and the 2028 MLB All-Star Game. The world is seeing that San Francisco is the place to be. Let’s go, Valkyries and let’s go, San Francisco!”

- The Kia WNBA Shooting Stars and State Farm WNBA 3-Point Contest at Chase Center on Friday, July 30.
