He has shown improvement every year, continuing to impress Utah’s front office. Now the franchise is showing their commitment to this budding rising star. The Utah Jazz and Keyonte George reach a $157.5M contract extension.
George, 22, has come a long way from the 16th pick in the 2023 draft. He’s become a key contributor and piece for Utah. While showing he has the skills and abilities to help the organization take a leap forward. Last season, Keyonte averaged 23.6 points and 6.1 assists while shooting 45.6% from the floor and 37.1% from 3-point range. All career bests for the guard.
George is also the only member of the 2023 NBA Draft class to total more than 3,000 points. And total more than 1,000 assists since entering the league. He ranks second among his draft class in total points (3,374) and first in assists (1,041).
George’s contract extension does not include a team or player option. The terms were finalized Friday after months of negotiations between George’s agent Jason Ranne of The Team and Jazz president of basketball operations Austin Ainge.
ESPN’s Shams Charania confirmed Keyonte’s deal stating,
“Just in: Utah Jazz guard Keyonte George has agreed on a five-year, $157.5 million rookie-scale contract extension with the franchise, sources tell me and Tim MacMahon.
George’s agent Jason Ranne of THE•TEAM on Friday wrapped up months of offseason negotiations with Jazz President Austin Ainge, finalizing the deal with no player or team options after a breakout year in which George averaged 23.6 points.”

The Utah Jazz are getting an amazing talent, at a young age to build around. An athlete that comes with tons of upside. Regarding George, Yahoo Sports Kevin O’ Connor comments,
“Incredible value deal for the Jazz at $31.5M annually. George was a 24 ppg on 60% true shooting guy last season. Making a leap every year and no reason to believe that progress will stop. Perfectly equipped to play with and without the ball too next to all these other mouths to feed on Utah too. I get signing this deal though in his part though. It’s generational wealth. Never know what happens if you play out the year. I’m very bullish on Utah this year and beyond.”
The Utah Jazz are excited about getting a deal done with George. And are already looking forward to the future. The organization announced the extension online saying, “Locked in for years to come. We’ve signed Keyonte George to a multi-year contract extension.”
