Brett Siegel added more perspective on the contract the Lakers were willing to give Kessler. Walker had wanted to get a nice payday from the Utah Jazz, however, a deal never fully materialized. Kessler and his agent both agreed that Walker was worth more than what the Jazz were willing to pay. Nonetheless, Brett mentions,
“I’m quite shocked Utah didn’t exceed the rumored $28M they wanted Kessler back on.
Instead, he gets $32.5M AAV from the Lakers, despite he and the Jazz holding mutual interest on getting a deal done.
Big deal for the Lakers.”
