Unrivaled Announced Aliyah Boston Will Miss 2027 season—Kate Martin Has Mutually Terminated Her Contract
Unrivaled today announced a series of roster updates ahead of the league’s third season, tipping off on January 8, 2027. Unrivaled announced that Aliyah Boston will miss the 2027 season due to injury, and also that Kate Martin has mutually terminated her contract with the league. Due to this, Isabelle Harrison of the Toronto Tempo and Kaitlyn Chen of the Valkyries have joined Unrivaled.
Star center Aliyah Boston will miss the 2027 Unrivaled season due to ongoing recovery from her right knee arthroscopy earlier this month. She’s expected to return in 2028.
Unrivaled President of Basketball Clare Duwelius provided a statement on Wednesday regarding Kate Martin’s contributions to the league as well as her departure from Unrivaled. Clare stated,
“We’re grateful for Kate’s contributions to Unrivaled over the past two seasons and the positive impact she’s had on the league and her clubs. We wish her all the best and will always celebrate her as one of our inaugural athletes who believed in Unrivaled from day one.”
Kate Martin also spoke on not playing in Unrivaled this season. She says,
“I’m incredibly grateful to Unrivaled for the opportunity to be part of its first two seasons. It’s been special to help launch a league that continues to elevate women’s basketball.
While I’m excited about what’s on the horizon for me, I’m so thankful for the people, the competition, and the memories I’ve made in Unrivaled.”
