Trey Mancini Announced He is Retiring from Major League Baseball

Mancini officially announced his retirement via social media platform, Instagram. Trey stated,

“As some of you may have heard, I am officially retiring from professional baseball. I am blessed to have made a home in the Orioles organization for ten years, win a World Series in Houston, play for the Cubs in Chicago (I wish I played better for you guys), and make it back up to the MLB with the Angels. I’d also like to thank the Reds, Marlins, and Diamondbacks for giving me opportunities in their organizations.

To my wife, Sara- we have been through a lifetime’s worth of experiences together for the last seven years. You have stood by my side through both unimaginably difficult and incredibly euphoric times and you are the strongest person I know. My greatest achievements in life are being your husband and Sadie’s father, and I can’t wait to begin this next chapter with you two.

To my parents, sisters, and family- thank you for always being there for me. You all sacrificed so much to always be at the baseball field, and your support has and always will mean the world to me. You have always believed my dreams were possible, even when I was a four-year-old claiming to want to be a Major League Baseball player.

To my teammates and coaches-there is nothing better than a group of people coming together to achieve a common goal. I am so lucky to have been surrounded by the best people I know during those times- from the early days in Winter Haven, to Notre Dame, and into professional baseball.

I would also like to give a special thank you to both the athletic trainers during my time as an Oriole and my doctors at The Johns Hopkins Hospital. Simply put, your proactivity and expertise saved my life, and I am forever indebted to you all.

Finally, to every fan, especially those in Birdland- your support over the years has meant the world to me. There is nothing more special in sports than a connection between a team and their fans, and I was lucky enough to feel that everywhere I played.

This game has been the focal point of my life since my parents signed me up for T-ball 30 years ago, and I have immense gratitude for everything it has given me. Thank you to everyone along the way who made it the journey of a lifetime.”

Very well said. So then, congratulations to Trey Mancini on an incredible career. A true legend in Baltimore, who will forever be remembered for his remarkable journey. His story will never be forgotten, and he undoubtedly deserves all the praise he has received. Enjoy retirement legend.
