Timberwolves Anthony Edwards and Pacers Haliburton Plus Raptors Kawhi Leonard All Dealing With Injuries
The season is still very early. However, multiple teams are already navigating the arduous task of staying healthy. Already, the Minnesota Timberwolves Anthony Edwards and Indiana Pacers Tyrese Haliburton plus Toronto Raptors Kawhi Leonard are all dealing with injuries.
Toronto’s Kawhi Leonard is expected to miss a period of weeks due to swelling in his left knee. MRI on Leonard’s knee showed no structural damage. However, sides will use the shorter term to ramp him back up after the stoppages during the offseason.
Nonetheless, the Pacers’ Tyrese Haliburton is also expected to miss a short period of games as well. Medical examination of Haliburton has shown that Hali sustained a left hamstring strain and will miss time. Pacers doctors and Haliburton gathered together to discuss and determine a clear timeline. In the end, it was decided Indiana’s Tyrese Haliburton will miss at least two weeks with the left hamstring strain.
What about the Wolves’ Anthony Edwards? Well, Edwards has looked IMPRESSIVE with multiple 40+ points games. But wildly, Ant has been doing so on a bad knee. ESPN’s Shams Charania reports,
“Just in: Minnesota Timberwolves star Anthony Edwards will undergo an arthroscopic procedure on his ailing right knee and miss up to two months, sources tell ESPN.”

Tim Connelly (president of basketball operations of the Minnesota Timberwolves); says Anthony Edwards wanted to play tonight against GSW but the imaging on his knee has gotten worse since the summer. The Timberwolves are prioritizing Edwards long-term health and he will undergo arthroscopic surgery in the next 24 hours. Connelly provided media with an update on Anthony Edwards injury status, stating,
“He’s going to go through and arthroscopic procedure in the next 24 hours. We’re constantly updating his imaging, his imaging from yesterday, showed an issue that we want to get addressed quickly. Our only concern is his long-term health.
It’s not a meniscus, I don’t want to speak out of school, my liberal arts degree will screw me up. It’s just an arthroscopic clean up.”
On if this could have been addressed over the summer:
“No, the imaging has changed on the most recent imaging. We’ve had a bunch of imaging over the summer and it changed as of yesterday.”
Due to the NBA’s 65-game rule, Anthony Edwards is expected to miss out on a 4-year, $304M supermax deal for making All-NBA due to his injury.
