Reds Chase Burns Agrees on Seven-Year $105 Million Contract as A’s Call Up Tommy White
Two teams, two decisions. One locked in one of the best pitchers this season for over half a decade and other is calling up some talent to see what he can do up top. In today’s MLB news, the Cincinnati Reds Chase Burns agrees on seven-year $105 million contract as the A’s call up Tommy White.
Both Burns and White have impressed this year. And both of their teams are rewarding their efforts. First getting into Burns’ new contract deal. One thing of note is that it does not include club options.
ESPN Jeff Passan confirmed the contract details stating, “Right-hander Chase Burns and the Cincinnati Reds are in agreement on a seven-year, $105 million contract, sources tell ESPN. Burns, 23, was an All-Star this season and one of the best young pitchers in baseball. No club options. A straight deal that will run through 2033.”
What Burns is doing from the mound for Cincinnati can not be ignored. As highlighted by ONYX, Chase has been one of the best Reds starting pitchers thus far this century.

The Athletic’s are just as thrilled as their up and coming third baseman prospect. Former LSU Tiger star and 2023 champion, Tommy White. The A’s are hoping that, White affectionately called Tommy Tanks, can have a bat that translates well in the big leagues. Tanks hit 75 homers over three college seasons at LSU.
Regarding his highly anticipated call up, Passan revealed,
“The A’s are calling up third baseman Tommy White, sources tell ESPN. White, a star at LSU and second-round pick in 2024, is hitting .303/.353/.465 with 10 home runs and 64 RBIs this season. The 23-year-old is expected to make his debut Friday against Washington.”
White’s path to the majors has been quite accelerated. But makes sense, he’s been raking this season. Therefore, he will make his debut just over a year of being drafted.
Beyond the Athletics calling up 3B/1B Tommy White (No. 7 prospect); the Athletics’ are reportedly also calling up RHP Yunior Tur (No. 27). Tommy White’s MLB Debut night will be against former LSU teammate Dylan Crews and the Nationals. Should be a fun one.
