According to ESPN’s Shams Charania, the Pistons latest contract offer to Jalen Duren is 5-years, $200 million including incentives. But currently, Duren’s camp isn’t on board. Jalen Duren is “questionable” and “up in the air” to report to the Pistons for their training camp next week due to the gap in his contract negotiations.
Charania went live on NBA Today on ESPN to provide the latest developments and details regarding this contract extension negotiation drama. On air Shams revealed,
“The Pistons and Jalen Duren are at an impasse and it’s highly up in the air and questionable as to whether he will be reporting and showing up for media day in just 7 days. Jalen Duren, when you talk to people close to him, feels a certain way toward the Pistons’ respect level for him… …over the course of this offseason, his offer from the Pistons has been around the $180 to $190M over 5 years range. And that has also included incentives like weight clauses to my understanding. And that has all played a part in this as well. And over the last several weeks been kind of quiet on this front. The sides have picked up communication. And I am told right now the Pistons offer to Jalen Duren is $200M over 5 years.”

As previously reported, Detroit Pistons last offer to Jalen Duren a five-year contract extension. Worth around $190 million, which Duren and his camp initially rejected in pursuit of a deal closer to or exceeding $200 million. Now that Detroit has met or at least come closer to Jalen’s number; the question becomes will Duren finally sign?
The Pistons and Jalen Duren have been going back and forth all summer about a contract. However, here they are with nothing resolved. The two sides are running out of time to get something done with training camp approaching fast.
