NFLPA Calling For Full Investigation Into Medical Care Provided to Eagles QB Jalen Hurts

So many varying angles of this story have emerged. With some fans now wondering if Philadelphia’s star quarterback’s health was put at unnecessary risk and in jeopardy. In fact, the NFLPA is calling for a full investigation into the medical care provided to Eagles QB Jalen Hurts.

QB Jalen Hurts is now OUT for the season after multiple blood clots were discovered in his lungs, per his agents. The star quarterback is now facing deep vein thrombosis and bilateral pulmonary emboli with blood clots in his left leg and both lungs. NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo reported on NFL Chief Medical Officer Aaron Sills’ press conference regarding this incident and matter involving Hurts. Garafolo reveals,

“Sills [was] asked about superficial blood clots. Says they’re not a novel condition and notes the league tracks the data on blood clots and shares it with the NFLPA. Didn’t directly say players are always cleared to play with a superficial blood clot, as each case has extenuating conditions.

As for flying, Sills notes part of the protocol after games is determining whether any players have medical conditions that would require them to stay at the site of the game.

Sills stated off the top he wouldn’t be commenting on Jalen Hurts’ situation specifically, as there are patient-privacy concerns.”

Furthermore, NFL chief medical officer Allen Sills continued, “I have tremendous confidence in the Philadelphia Eagles’ medical staff and all our medical staffs.” Moreover, Sills says no medical decisions regarding players are affected by the football side.

However, it seems as though the above statements are not enough for the NFLPA. The NFLPA is pushing back on the NFL over Jalen Hurts. Demanding a full investigation before anyone draws conclusions.

The NFLPA’s official statement: “The NFLPA is not aware of any NFL investigation into the medical care provided to Jalen Hurts. In fact, the league previously informed the union that it did not plan to review the care he received. Before conclusions are drawn about how this situation was handled, there must be a full investigation into what occurred. Determining the facts is essential to ensuring players receive the highest level of care and protection going forward.”
