Hawks First NBA Team to Have Prime Video Stream Games to In-Market Fans at No Additional Cost For Subscribers
Watching your favorite team often takes several streaming platforms and multiple Google searches throughout the season. However, one NBA team is trying something different and making things easier for fans to watch them in action on the court. The Atlanta Hawks announced on Tuesday they will become the first NBA team to have Prime Video stream their local games to in-market fans at no additional cost for subscribers.
So then, we have a new kind of first in the NBA’s relationship with Amazon. Amazon is adding the NBA to its local streaming portfolio. The one-year deal reportedly carries a low-seven-figure value and gives Amazon 85% of the team’s digital ad inventory. But the move will make Hawks basketball for fans more accessible than ever.
The Atlanta Hawks announced that Prime Video will serve as their new streaming home for the 2026-27 season. In essence, this means that all local games (non-national exclusive) are available to stream for IN-MARKET fans with a Prime membership, with no additional subscription required.
The Hawks expansive regional television territory covers a five-state footprint including Georgia, Alabama, Tennessee, South Carolina, and Mississippi. Nonetheless, Atlanta is the first team to partner with Prime Video for exclusive in-market streaming.
However, if you are local and don’t have Prime do not panic. Other options will still be available. These 74 games will also broadcast locally on over-the-air TV. Hawks games will still be on ANF and Peachtree Sports Network on the TV side of things.
Hawks First NBA Team to Have Prime Video Stream Games to In-Market Fans at No Additional Cost For Subscribers
The Atlanta Hawks organization made the official announcement regarding their new streaming home for the 2026-2027 season via social media. The franchise excitedly stated,
“Hawks basketball is coming to Prime Video!
We’re the first NBA team to stream local games exclusively on Prime Video, included with your Prime membership at no additional cost for in-market fans!”
Nevertheless, if this turns into a positive partnership between Atlanta and Amazon Prime. There is a very good chance we see more teams stream local games on Prime Video in the years to come. Which would be a win for fans hoping to find their teams’ games in one spot. Streaming should be made easier for local fans to watch their hometown team. Therefore, this could prove to be an ideal development as well as step in the right direction.
