New York Heights Faced San Francisco Fireballs on Thursday Night in 13-8 Victory
The New York Heights faced off against the San Francisco Fireballs on Thursday night. The game started off as a bit of a pitcher’s duel. With both teams remaining scoreless in the first. However, in the second the floodgates finally opened.
San Francisco drew first blood scoring a run in the bottom of the second inning. But, New York fired right back with two runs of their very own in the top of third. In the fourth inning the Heights kept the score climbing higher in their favor; by knocking in two more runs. Before loading the bases and scoring two more times.
When the damage was all done, New York had a commanding lead. The Heights looked just as good as they had in their season opener versus LA. Being able to bat well and showcase another dominant performance offensively. By the top of the fourth inning NY was leading 7-1.
However, the Firebells still had some fire and fight left in them. In the bottom of the fourth inning they got to work on digging themselves out of their hole. With bases loaded and one out, Jua Park drove in a run due to a defensive error. Amanda Gianelloni plays a little small ball barely batting the ball forward in bunt-like style, which allows San Francisco to score again.
The Fireballs are able to chip away a little at New York’s lead. Bringing the score to 7-3. But could San Francisco mount a full comeback against the Heights?

In this game, no. New York would tack on some more assurance runs in the top of the fifth (9-3) putting them up by six. However, the Fireballs would still make things very interesting late in the game. San Francisco would eventually score five more times. But their late game heroics would come up short.
The New York Heights would hold on to get the victory, winning 13-8. With this win, the Heights even out the standings. New York, San Francisco and Boston now all have one win and one loss this season. Los Angeles are the only undefeated team left. The Firebells’ next game is on Friday; while the Heights will play Saturday morning.
