Generally, it’s just an exhibition game that is more concerned with talking to the latest inductees during the game. However, this one seemed to have a little more pop than usual. Guys were playing hard as they showed off what they could do in hopes of making the final roster. As a result, the Pro Football Hall of Fame Kicked off the 2025 NFL season with lots of scoring. Although, the scoring didn’t start until the second quarter as players got settled into the game.

Carson Beck turned some heads putting up an impressive stat line. He was 15 of 19 for 188 yards, TD, no interceptions, 125.4 rating), that’s pretty good for a rookie. He appeared comfortable and well aware of his responsibilities in his first NFL action for the Arizona Cardinals. If he can continue to play well for the rest of the preseason, then the Cardinals may have a challenge on their hands. Although they paid Jacoby Brissett more money, will Beck unseat him from the starting quarterback position?

As for the Carolina Panthers it doesn’t look like Bryce Young is in any trouble of losing the starting quarterback job to Kenny Pickett. He started off as somewhat indecisive but was eventually able to find a rhythm. But he did lead the team on a touchdown drive. He is likely firmly entrenched as a backup quarterback. However, rookie Haynes King showed he could be great. He led the team on the final drive to score a touchdown and win the game, 33-30. It was a nice way to show a flare for the dramatic and look good doing it.

During the game, interviews are always conducted with the new members. One of whom is Luke Kuechly whose amazing NFL career was cut short after eight seasons. He currently coachs youth football with the help of two former teammates, Greg Olson and Jonathan Stewart. His entry into the Hall after only eight years of playing time is rare. Only legends like Barry Sanders and Gayle Sayers were able to get in with shorter careers than the average Hall of Famer.

Kuechly is also joined by Drew Brees, Larry Fitzgerald, Adam Vinatieri and Roger Craig. We know Brees was great at throwing and Fitzgerald was great at catching. However, not many kickers get enshrined, only five have done it so far. And now Vinatieri makes it six. There are plenty of running backs there but it took a while for Craig, a three-time Super Bowl champion, to finally get in.

Congratulations again to the new enshrinees. And thanks to the players for giving us a good game to start the preseason!
