Los Angeles Queens Keep Win Streak Alive With Victory Over San Francisco Firebells
Every WPBL team this season is making their distinctive mark in baseball history. However, on Friday evening LA was playing for something different than all the other franchises in the league. Which is to remain undefeated. Well mission accomplished, because the Los Angeles Queens kept their win streak alive with a dominant victory over the San Francisco Fireballs.
One thing you will notice about the Los Angeles ball club right away, is that they like to score… A LOT and early. Friday’s matchup proved to be no different as the Queens scored multiple runs in the first three innings. While LA did not score in the first, in the second and third innings they put up seven runs.
In this same timeframe their opponents appeared a bit disjointed. The San Francisco Firebells struggled both offensively and defensively. After some brief nice hitting SF fortunately avoids the shutout, but by the beginning of the fifth inning they still only have one run scored. If San Francisco wanted an opportunity to get their second win of the season; then they had a tough hill to climb.

And Los Angeles refused to make the climb up easy. The Queens kept their foot on the pedal adding another run in the bottom of the fourth and fifth innings. Meanwhile, the Firebells would tack on two more runs of their own in the fifth.
However, San Francisco would still fall short despite some solid late game efforts. Thaima Maxmiliana would put the exclamation point on this game for Los Angeles. In the sixth inning Thaima would blast a two-run home run right out the park. Thus, becoming a very special play for Maxmiliana, since this allows Thaima to score her first home run in the WPBL to bring in 2 for the LA to lead SF 12-3 in the 6th. And that’s the way the scoreboard would stay.
The Queens would get the win. And they remain flawless. Los Angeles will go for their possibly fourth consecutive victory on Saturday night in a rematch versus the Firebells.
