On Friday Jannik Sinner defeated Novak Djokovic in straight sets 6-4, 6-4, 6-4. Jannik has now won 6 of his last 7 matches against Novak. He’s also won 6 consecutive sets against Novak on grass.

Nevertheless, despite beating the tennis legend that is Novak Djokovic. Sinner says Novak Djokovic is a true inspiration for him. After his historic victory, Jannik told the Wimbledon press,
“It’s so amazing to see him still producing this kind of level, and the match he played with Felix. I was watching. The level was so high. He’s a true inspiration for all of us and also the younger generation… How much a good mindset can do to your body and mind as well. For me, he’s a true inspiration. Seeing him around and having the honor to play against him, feeling the pressure against him.. these matches hopefully can help me for the future. That’s it. Every match is different and has its own story. I wouldn’t look a lot on head-to-heads. I think every match is different. I am very lucky to play against Novak.”
Despite a 14 year age gap, Novak Djokovic has a respectable 5-6 W/L ratio against Jannik Sinner. Hopefully, there will be more to come. However, now Jannik looks towards the final battle of this tournament. This Sunday Jannik Sinner will face off against Alexander Zverev.
