As always there are plenty of free agents available to sign every offseason. And arguably the best remaining free agent, Odell Beckham Jr., is headed to the Miami Dolphins. Per ESPN’s Marcel Louis-Jacques’ post on x.com: “Dolphins GM Chris Grier has done a whole lot of work this offseason despite salary cap constraints, his latest addition being WR Odell Beckham, Jr. More on the 3-time Pro Bowler joining Miami on a 1-year, $3M deal.” And Jacques further reported that, “with incentives that can push its max value to $8.25 million.” He is expected to be the number 3 receiver behind Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle. And via the 2024 NFL Draft they added receivers Malik Washington and Tahj Washington.

Certainly the Dolphins want to see Beckham return to his playmaker glory days. However, with all the receivers they have, competition will be stiff. Although he doesn’t appear to be worried about impressing anyone. After the Ravens’ AFC Championship Game loss to the Kansas City Chiefs, Beckham said, “If there is anything I felt about myself — regardless of anybody’s opinion or anything like that — is that I know that I can still play football, and I know that I still have s— in the tank.”

He was drafted by the New York Giants 12th overall in the 2014 NFL Draft. However, it was an insane catch he made in his first year which catapulted him to instant stardom. It was Week 12 on a Sunday night national game against the Dallas Cowboys. Eli Manning heaved a pass to him about 50 yards down the field. Falling backwards into the endzone he made a one-handed catch basically using his thumb and forefinger. Despite being fouled he held onto the ball and scored the touchdown.

The Dolphins will be Beckham’s fifth team since joining the league. He was traded to the Cleveland Browns in 2019 but suffered and ACL injury in 2020. In 2021 midway through the season he joined the Los Angeles Rams. He helped them win the Super Bowl but left in the second quarter with another ACL injury. Thereafter he missed the entire 2022 season. Last season he joined the Baltimore Ravens appearing in 14 games and starting six. He recorded 35 receptions for 565 receiving yards and three receiving touchdowns. But he was released by the team on March 13, 2024.

Therefore, it looks like this stint with the Dolphins could be his last hurrah. Hopefully it will turn out to be a good signing for both parties
