Dylan Larkin on Alleged Three Team Trade List He Submitted to Detroit Red Wings

The Elephant has been standing dead center in the middle of the room. Leading to one question… is there any chance of a reconciliation between Dylan Larkin and the Red Wings? This situation was discussed during a presser this week. At long last Dylan Larkin commented on the alleged three team trade list he submitted to the Detroit Red Wings.

Dylan Larkin spoke to the media on Thursday for the first time since his trade request became public. Larkin said his trade request wasn’t meant to go public. He also declined to reveal the reasons behind the request. And noted that the reasons may never fully be revealed.

Additionally, Dylan declined to say if he’s rescinded his trade request or if a reconciliation is possible. Moreover, he didn’t get into why he asked to be traded. Instead he mentioned that he’s prepared to play here (Detroit) for now at least and keeping details between him and the team.

Here is Larkin’s full statement to reporters as Detroit Red Wings camp opened:

“There’s a lot there, a lot of personal stuff in that, and to be honest with you guys, I’m not ready to go there yet.

I understand that there’s answers that fans and people that care about this organization around the world want to know, but I’m really not ready to go there. It’s maybe something that I may never be, you know?

It wasn’t easy to get to that decision. It was very hard. It wasn’t a spur of the moment thing. I don’t take what I did lightly.

I wish so badly I could be on the ice, because that’s where the actions will follow the talking. I’m here, I’m speaking today to you guys because you guys deserve answers, fans deserve answers. I don’t want this distraction, I don’t want my teammates to have to answer before me.

I’m here right now and my focus right now is on the upcoming season with the Detroit Red Wings. Number one is to get healthy.”

Red Wings coach Todd McLellan also briefly addressed the franchise and Larkin stating,

Who wouldn’t want Dylan Larkin on their team? He made a commitment to the team signing a contract. We made a commitment to him to provide an opportunity to play and that’s where we’re at right now.”

Unfortunately, playing will not be in the immediate future. Dylan Larkin suffered an upper body injury in off-ice training recently, and won’t be on the ice to start Red Wings training camp, interim GM Shawn Horcoff said on Wednesday, “He sustained an injury earlier this week. He’s been seen by doctors, he’ll be at training camp rehabbing with the doctors but he won’t be on the ice participating. That’s gonna take him a little bit of time to get back from it,” Horcoff said. “There’s no timeline (for his return),” Horcoff added.
