Dallas Wings Announced Azzi Fudd Will Miss Remainder of Regular Season and Undergo Procedure

Unfortunately, basketball fans will not get to see more from this year’s number one pick of the 2026 WNBA draft. The Wings’ rookie has been dealing with injury and her team has now officially decided to just shut her down. Late Wednesday afternoon the Dallas Wings announced Azzi Fudd will miss the remainder of the regular season (plus postseason) and will undergo an arthroscopic procedure to address ongoing right knee soreness.

Fudd had finally found a bit of a stride after a slow start to the season. Before the announcement of injury and needing a knee procedure; Azzi Fudd still led all rookies this season in both threes as well as steals. An impressive statistic when you also factor in that she has not played a game in the last 2 weeks.

Fudd last played on Aug. 5 and has missed the last five games. She previously tore her ACL and meniscus in the same knee in 2023. Nonetheless, the Dallas Wings public relations page posted the following regarding Fudd:

“Dallas Wings rookie guard Azzi Fudd will undergo an arthroscopic procedure to address ongoing right knee soreness, the team announced today. Fudd will have the procedure done in Connecticut early next week and will begin rehabbing immediately. With less than five weeks remaining in the regular season following the procedure, Fudd will miss the remainder of the 2026 season. The Wings will provide additional updates following the procedure when appropriate.”

Azzi Fudd also released a statement to fans via her podcast social media account. Azzi mentioned,

“Hey,

Most of you probably already saw. l’ve got a small procedure coming up on my knee, and l’ll be out as I recover.

I know exactly what comes next: rehab, put in the work, come back ready and better than before.

Grateful for my family, my circle, and the Wings organization for the support.

Thank you for all the messages today. They mean a lot to me.”

Azzi Fudd will conclude the season averaging (13.1) points per game (across 30 games). Ranking top five in steals, second among guards in blocks, and top 15 in three-pointers made. Fudd also became the fastest player in 24 years to reach 50+ steals and 50+ three-pointers.

The Wings are 2-7 since the All-Star break. Only the Tempo (0 wins), Sun (1), and Storm (1) have fewer wins over that span. Dallas really needs Azzi back, but they want to make sure that she gets healthy first.
