Baltimore Ravens Got Thrilling Overtime Win Against Atlanta Falcons on Sunday Night
Getting the victory last night gave them sole possession of first place in the AFC South at 4-1. But despite the win, they can’t afford to relax as the Browns, Bengals and Steelers are all at 3-2. Yet for a few hours they can celebrate the overtime win against some other birds. Yes, the Baltimore Ravens got the thrilling overtime win against the Atlanta Falcons on Sunday Night. And they did it without their franchise quarterback, Lamar Jackson. Tyler Huntley did the honor of filling the position.
Huntley was seen regularly consulting with Jackson on the sidelines despite Atlanta getting out to an early lead in the game. Nevertheless, it turned out to be an improbable win for a team that was considered a 3.5-point underdog. Likely because the Falcons had been on a two-week tear, beating the both the Packers and the Saints by 21 points each. But as we all know you can’t rely on your past to carry you forward in the present.
It seemed as if the Falcons had the game well in hand. But as pointed out by Jamison Hensley of ESPN, the eight-point comeback in the fourth quarter was Baltimore’s largest in a game not started by Jackson in 11 years. Ravens’ safety Kyle Hamilton emphasized the magnitude of the win saying, “Ever since I’ve been here, that’s a game that we lose,” Hamilton said after receiving a game ball from Minter. “This win right here, I feel like it’s us.”
So how were the Ravens able to pull out the victory in the end? It took a lot of teamwork, effort and a “never give up” attitude.
Baltimore Ravens Got Thrilling Overtime Win Against Atlanta Falcons on Sunday Night
First of all, they had to tie up the game to get to overtime. With the Ravens trailing by eight with 2:25 left in regulation, Huntley led a six-play, 71-yard drive capped by a 7-yard touchdown pass to Walker with 40 seconds remaining. Henry’s two-point conversion run tied the score at 23. Huntley then directed a 14-play, 68-yard drive in overtime that consumed more than seven minutes and ended with his 1-yard sneak for the go-ahead touchdown. He completed 11 straight passes over the two drives.
This Ravens team has been described as tough, gritty and resilient. Even kicker Tyler Loop had a role to play as he went 3-for-3 on field-goal attempts. Two of his kicks were 51-yarders. While Huntley did his job the team will want their starting quarterback on the field again as soon as possible. This year’s Ravens’ team is looking better than last year’s team; there’s no doubt about that. We can’t wait to see how things turn out this season.
