Arizona Cardinals Finalizing Trade to Send Marvin Harrison Jr. to Houston Texans

His father played for just one team, going his entire professional 13 year-career with the Colts from 1996 through 2008. However, junior is being moved in a bit of an unexpected, early season trade. The Arizona Cardinals are finalizing a trade to send wide receiver Marvin Harrison Jr. to the Houston Texans.

The rumor mill has been spinning out of control for the last 24 hours. As things heated up surrounding the Cardinals and their young wide receiver. Harrison was selected fourth overall by the Arizona Cardinals in the 2024 NFL draft. Harrison Jr. is the 12th Ohio State Buckeye receiver selected in the first round. And is the highest drafted wide receiver in school history at No. 4. He finished his career with totals of 155 receptions (6th at Ohio State), 2,613 receiving yards (6th) and 31 touchdowns (3rd).

Nonetheless, early Saturday morning, Adam Schefter had got the party started confirming that Harrison was on the trade block and not coming off. Schefter revealed,

“The latest on the imminent trade of soon-to-be former Arizona Cardinals wide receiver Marvin Harrison Jr.:

Arizona had told inquiring teams that it wanted first-round value in return for Harrison, the former No. 4 overall pick. Arizona is now comfortable enough with whatever offer it has received to make Harrison inactive on Sunday and know he is on the verge of being dealt.”

Furthermore, 24 hours later and the rumblings got louder until the Houston Texans themselves stepped forward. Texans HC DeMeco Ryans announced they had traded for MHJ. After a dominant 24-3 win over the Titans, DeMeco Ryans exits stage right with the ultimate press conference walk-off answer:

“You guys want to know, huh?” Yes, we traded for Marvin Harrison.”

A few moments later ESPN’s Adam Schefter confirmed the trade as well as details. Schefter reports, “Trade: the Arizona Cardinals have agreed to trade WR Marvin Harrison Jr. and 2027 7th-round pick to the Houston Texans in exchange for a 2027 2nd-round pick and 2027 6th-round pick, per Ian Rapoport and me.”

So now, Marvin and the Arizona Cardinals both get a fresh start. Furthermore, Harrison reunites with C.J. Stroud in Houston, while Arizona adds draft capital and moves on from their former No. 4 overall pick. Moreover, Houston now has traded for two WRs: Marvin Harrison Jr. and Kayshon Boutte.
