Atlanta Dream’s Angel Reese Recorded 56 Double-Doubles in 74 Games—Most in WNBA History
Sometimes you just need a change in scenery. Since going to Atlanta, Reese is looking more and more like the player who won a championship with LSU. And of course, she is setting even more league records despite being early into her professional career. What has she achieved now? The Atlanta Dream’s Angel Reese has recorded 56 double-doubles in 74 games which is the most in WNBA history.
Reese has now done something less than five WNBA players have achieved since the league started 30 years ago. Actually, many NBA players haven’t done it either. According to ESPN Insights,
“Since the WNBA’s inaugural season in 1997, Angel Reese is 1 of 4 basketball players (including NBA) with 50+ double-doubles in her first 75 games, and one away from tying Blake Griffin for the most in that span, regardless of league.”
However, Angel is enjoying a full week of accolades. Just about five days ago against the Connecticut Sun; she accomplished something else special offensively. As the Atlanta Dream Public Relations team mentioned,
“Angel Reese’s sixth point of the night marked the 1,000th point of her WNBA career. The two-time All-Star reaches the milestone amid a stellar start to her first season in Atlanta, already posting four double-doubles in eight games while leading the league in offensive rebounds per game and ranking second in rebounds per game.”

There must be something in the water and air, because Angel is not the only Dream player setting yet another record. Reese’s teammate Rhyne Howard got in on all the record-making fun as well this weekend.
After Atlanta defeated and blew out the Washington Mystics with no mercy, 77-109; the Dream announced regarding Howard, “That’s a record for Rhy! With her steal in the opening seconds of tonight’s game, Rhyne Howard moves to 4th all-time in Dream steals.”
So yes, while Howard may be a bucket, she also stays snatching cookies from the opponent’s jar and emptying pockets on the court. Howard now has over 220 steals to hold fourth place in the Dream record. Some 233 steals to be exact and there’s still plenty of season left. Furthermore, Howard also has 484+ career assists. Now 3rd in Dream franchise history. Therefore, it will be exciting to see what Reese and Howard accomplish as the season progresses.
