Atlanta Braves Are The 2026 National League East Champions
Congratulations are in order for this eastern MLB franchise. They already had a playoff spot; but things just got even sweeter. The Atlanta Braves are the 2026 National League East Champions!
After defeating the Houston Astros on Sunday, the Braves got to pop the champagne and beer. For the 7th time in the past 9 seasons, the Atlanta Braves are Division Champs. Fittingly, the ball club also got to celebrate in Houston on the same field where they won the 2021 World Series.
This is a far cry from a disappointing season in 2025. Not only did the Braves not win the division, but they missed out on contending for another title. They finished the 2025 MLB regular season in fourth place in the National League East with a 76-86 record and missed the postseason.
But now the “beasts of the NL East” are back on top. Atlanta defeats the Astros to clinch their first division title since 2023. Their 24th division title overall. Tying the Los Angeles Dodgers for the most in MLB. The Atlanta Braves have won the NL East 19 times out of the last 32 years. Pure dominance. And they did it again this season finishing in dramatic fashion, by sweeping the Astros in one of their final series of the season.
Moreover, Mike Yastrzemski hit a three-run homer as Atlanta beat Houston 4-2 on Sunday to seal the division. But before that point, the Astros were hanging tough till around the sixth inning. The Braves and Astros was tied 1-1. But Mike’s huge homer was the dagger and difference.

Manager Walt Weiss says it took every single member of the team to get this division title. And at the beginning of season he told his team, “I told these guys winning the division is really tough,” Weiss said. “I know it’s the first step, but it takes six months to do it, so it takes everybody. And we used everybody, and virtually everyone who got an opportunity stepped up and helped us win games this year. So, a special group in that way.”
The Braves are 92-64, but that record can’t neatly summarize their season. It’s been a roller coaster. However, now with six games remaining, the division is theirs. They have more they want to accomplish, but for one night, they can celebrate all the work that went into winning the division.
