Welcome to the Top Ten Draft Picks of the 2026 NFL Draft
They spent many years of their young lives working toward their dream of joining the National Football League. They represent the cream of the crop of this year’s draftees. It was no surprise that Fernando Mendoza was taken first by the Las Vegas Raiders. Everyone knew they were looking for a starting franchise quarterback. We’ll find out if he can help the Raiders get back on track. But in the meantime, below are brief details about the first guys taken. So welcome to the top ten draft picks of the 2026 NFL Draft. We wish them all successful careers in the league!
The New York Jets took David Bailey edge rusher out of Texas Tech with the No. 2 draft pick. The Jets have defensive needs that he can help fill being able to generate pressure and make tackles for losses. Coming in with the No. 3 pick was the Arizona Cardinals taking Jeremiyah Love out of Notre Dame. He and his father wrote a comic book called Jeremonstar telling kids to authentically be themselves. If he takes his own advice he should fare well in the NFL.
Number 4 pick Carnell Tate wore the names of his mother and sisters inside his jacket. He gave them their flowers thanking them for all they have done for him. The number five pick is the highest one John Harbaugh has taken in his head coaching career. The New York Giants selected Ohio State linebacker Arvell Reese. Clearly the Giants are looking to do some damage on defense.

The Chiefs traded with the Browns to get the No. 6 pick in the draft. Mansoor Delane was their selection a defensive back out of LSU. They traded Trent McDuffie to the Rams earlier, so they had a need at the position. It’s good that Delane can play man or zone coverage without getting grabby. NFL analysts compared him to Patrick Surtain and Tyrann Matthieu. The Washington Commanders were on the board with the 7th pick and chose Sonny Styles who is a flexible linebacker. He also has a background playing the safety position. And he is known as being a high-character guy. Three OSU guys were taken with the first 7 draft picks for the first time in the era of the modern draft.
Coming in with the 8th pick the New Orleans Saints went with wide receiver Jordan Tyson out of Arizona State. He’s very competitive but needs to stay healthy but he can be a boon to their young quarterback. Hines Ward coached Tyson and that former Super Bowl winner knows a thing or two about being a wide receiver. Which is why many considered Tyson to be the best wide receiver in the draft. Following the Saints were the Cleveland Browns who chose with the No. 9 pick Spencer Fano out of Utah the first offensive lineman off the board. Making their second selection of the evening the New York Giants selected Francis Mauigoa out of Miami the second offensive lineman of the draft.
What Does the Future Hold For the 2026 NFL Top Ten Draft Picks
That’s a question for which we don’t have an answer right now. However, it will be fun to watch as their careers unfold. Some have said this was a lackluster draft, no real superstar talent available. In fact, many are already looking forward to the next draft because they feel it will have a lot more talent to offer. Nevertheless, we still need to wait and see what this 2026 class will do.
Will Fernando pull the Raiders out of the doldrums and back into the top? Will the New York teams change their stars with the defensive talent that they both drafted? And then there are the two offensive linemen taken by the Browns and Giants. Will they protect their young quarterbacks and keep them upright? Many questions will be answered when the new NFL season begins in September. See you there!
