On Wednesday morning the Sharks franchise announced the 5 year deal at $18.8M AAV that will kick in the 2027-2028 season. Therefore, Celebrini is here to stay with San Jose. And as of right now this deal will make him the highest paid player in the NHL.
Furthermore, Macklin is worth every cent that the Sharks will be shelling out. Macklin Celebrini the past year:

Celebrini is just as happy as the Sharks to be staying put in the San Jose organization for the next half decade. Regarding signing his new contract extension Macklin says,

The faith and support that Mr. Plattner, Mike Grier and the entire staff have shown me throughout the past two seasons is proof that we are building something special here. My teammates and I are ready to take another step toward the ultimate goal of bringing a Stanley Cup to this city and its incredible fans. I can’t wait to get going.”

Celebrini’s agent Pat Brisson added to Macklin’s sentiments. Brisson had this to say:
“From our very first conversation, it was clear that Mike and Mr. Plattner were fully committed to Macklin’s future in San Jose. Macklin is not only an exceptional player, but also an outstanding person, and we’re proud to support him as he continues his journey with the Sharks.”
Some last aspects to note regarding this historic contract moment. The five-year term buys one UFA year, making Celebrini a 26-year-old pending UFA in 2032. Additionally, the San Jose Sharks extension with Macklin, dethrones Leo Carlsson for highest AAV in the NHL.
