With her first point today, Olivia Miles passes Caitlin Clark (769) for the most points scored by a rookie in WNBA history!
This was a tough milestone to reach. In 2024, Caitlin Clark went scorched earth offensively as a rook, setting numerous other “W” records in the process. However, Miles has been very impressive as well; helping to lead the Lynx to the playoffs even with the franchise’s star player being out for most of the season. In fact, the Minnesota Lynx have clinched a postseason berth in the 2026 WNBA playoffs; but are still currently battling for the No. 1 overall seed with the Golden State Valkyries. We will soon see how everything shakes out.
Nevertheless, with Rookie of the Year pretty much all locked up. It’s still fun to see Miles add another notch to her budding legacy. Olivia now owns the WNBA rookie scoring record. 771 points and still counting. Meaning, Miles still has a little time to add on to the final tally of this record.

As one can see, it took almost two decades; almost 20 years for this record to be broken by Clark. It stood untouched for most of the time the league has even been in existence. Nonetheless, just two years later and Miles is breaking it yet again. And in the same amount of games that Caitlin played. With a free throw in the 2Q, Olivia Miles (771 PTS and counting) passed Caitlin Clark (769) for the most points in a rookie season record.
Furthermore, Miles didn’t just dominate other rookies all year long. But she proved to be the best on her own team. The rookie leads the Lynx franchise in scoring and assists and has led the Minnesota Lynx to a 32-10 record. Minnesota won their 32nd game of the season after defeating the Connecticut Sun on Sunday morning. Minnesota wins, 101-89.
