New York Jets and Running Back Breece Hall Agreed to New Contract Extension
Last season was a lost one for the team but that has been the case for quite a while now. However, they were considered to have done well in the 2026 NFL Draft, and they have made moves on their roster. Including trading cornerback Sauce Gardner to the Indianapolis Colts at the 2025 trade deadline. But in the spirit of team building, they have also retained some guys. Therefore, the New York Jets and running back Breece Hall have agreed to a new contract extension. With the new contract in place, he won’t have to play under the franchise tag that was applied in March.
As reported by NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport, it’s a a three-year, $45.75 million contract. That makes Hall the third-highest paid running back in the NFL at $15.25 million annually. Only Saquon Barkley of the Eagles and Christian McCaffrey of the 49ers make more money. Hall was initially selected by the New York Jets in the second round of the 2022 NFL Draft. Prior to joining the NFL Hall had accumulated several college accolades. Including being named first-team All-Big 12 and an unanimous All-American.
He’s made noise as a professional football player as well. As a rookie he scored his first touchdown in Week 1 of the 2022 season against the Cleveland Browns. In his Week 6 performance against the Green Bay Packers, he was named the FedEx Ground Player and Pepsi NFL Rookie of the Week. But unfortunately, his rookie season came to an abrupt end when he tore his ACL in Week 7 against the Denver Broncos. He was placed on injured reserve for the rest of the season. But last season in 2025 he cracked the 1,000-yard mark putting up 1,065 yards.

Hall has proven to be an invaluable weapon for the Jets as he has been able to make catches for the team. Over his career he’s had 188 receptions for 1,642 yards. Along with 18 rushing touchdowns and 9 reception touchdowns. His production goes along well with Jets wide receiver Garrett Wilson who also signed a large extension last year. Together the two can create havoc for other teams.
In an interesting move the Jets also signed quarterback Geno Smith who was cut by the Las Vegas Raiders. Offensive Coordinator Frank Reich is happy to have Smith, calling him the “perfect fit.” However, they finished with a 3-14 record and last place in the AFC East. But with two weapons under contract perhaps things will go well. In the meantime, congratulations to Breece Hall on his new extension!
